Today, however, leaving an electronic mess can be one of the most costly mistakes in the process. Failing to account for digital assets and electronic lives can result in a long list of problems for your heirs to deal with before they receive their inheritance. Nowadays, this can be easily avoided since, for the time being, estate planning law has finally caught up to technological developments. Most states have enacted the Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act or something similar. This law makes it possible for executors to manage virtual currencies, web domains, computer files, and more unless a document specifically prohibits access. However, the law has its limits.
