NEWS: Expat found dead from a serious medical emergency in his apartment. Expat died because of confusion with the emergency operator. A couple found dead in their apartment. Expat found dead on a bench in Parque Caldron.
If you have lived in Cuenca for a while, you have been alarmed by such horrifying incidents. Could they have been prevented? Most could.
VIP Home Health, a trusted name in expat care for over four years, has been working for over a year obtaining all the proper government permits and beta-testing their system, allowing them to introduce MedAlert--a simple and affordable device that may save your life.
As you get older, statically you increase your chances of having a medical emergency. Are you prepared? Do you know enough Spanish to call for help in an emergency? Can you clearly communicate your blood type and allergies? The sad truth is that most expats will find themselves in trouble in a time of need.
How can MedAlert help? It’s as easy as 1-2-3.
First, we will work with you to obtain all your medical history: blood type, allergies, medicines, etc. This information is kept in a strictly confidential file for you.
We then provide you with a small MedAlert device (about the size of a lighter) to carry on your person when out or at home. It has (see the picture) a power button and a large yellow button to push when you need help. Plus, a lanyard if you wish to wear it.
If you have any medical emergency or an accident, just push the big yellow button. That will put you in contact with our 24/7 trained medical staff who speak English and Spanish. They will call you back on your MedAlert device and ascertain your medical emergency. If life-threatening, we will call either 911 or private ambulance service for you, and we will come to your house to stabilize your condition (usually within 15 minutes or less). We will then accompany you to the nearest hospital, and help you check-in. If not life-threatening, we can either help you remotely or send a trained medical professional to your home. Your choice.
Here’s what expats are saying about MedAlert:
We are so thrilled that VIP Home Healthcare has expanded its support to include a GPS alert system.
The VIP team has always been there for medical support for our family and so many friends in Cuenca. We also know from personal experience how stressful it can be to have an emergency medical need and contacting 911 when Spanish is not your first language.
Wearing and testing the medical alert device and talking directly to the VIP team in Cuenca reminded us of how important this safety device is and how comforting it is to anyone on their own and anyone with a medical condition and/or limited Spanish.
Congrats VIP for supporting the Cuenca expat community, including many retirees, with this latest support tool for medical emergencies.
The cost for peace of mind is only $39.95 per month (plus a refundable deposit for the Med-Alert device). All major credit cards accepted, so your US credit card can be used. Also, there is a discount for more than one MedAlert device in the household.
Call for a free home demonstration and additional information today. Be prepared for any medical emergency with MedAlert. You’ll be glad you did.
